Mission, Vision and Objectives:

 

 

Work-Safe Occupational Health was formed in October 2001. The MISSION is to build a support system remaining at the forefront of medical technology and rehabilitative health care delivery, preventing disease, promoting wellness, and thereby being responsible corporate citizens.

This is accomplished by recognizing that criteria have been set for quality, price, service and outcome. To fulfill the mission, the vision is to work jointly with companies and their employees to minimize lost work time and enhance the health and safety of each worker, striving to keep employees working and prepare them for job placements that are appropriate to their impairments.

These goals are achieved through effective case management, return to work/transitional programs, occupational health physician networks, duration guidelines, and treatment protocols geared toward meeting quality outcome standards and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Work-Safe, works collaboratively with employers either on-site at the work place, or off-site at any of the six ambulatory care centers, to provide a full spectrum of medical services to accommodate the company’s geographic locations and patient/worker volumes throughout Michigan and globally.

Physical & Occupational Therapy

 

Preventive programs to reduce workplace injuries, to enable injured employees to continue to work, and to minimize lost work time of injured employees include:


   Work related injury/illness evaluation and treatment.
   Disability Management for occupational & non-occupational injury/illness.
   Ergonomic On-Site Job Analysis.
  MSD evaluation including assessing posture and movements   associated with conditions such as :

  • Cervical and lumbar back sprains and strains.
     
  • Lateral and medial epicondylitis.
     
  • DeQuervains.
     
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Muscular Skeletal (MSD) prevention programs include controlling and eliminating basic job risk factors of excessive force, repetition, and poor posture.

Hand and back prevention classes include demonstration of back physiology, practice of lumbar stabilization postures, balance, stretching and strengthening exercises.

 

 

 

  • Job coaching.

  • Workstation design and layout, physical demands of weight (e.g. never, rare, occasional, frequently, continuous), objects, height, postures/movements, maximum consecutive mins./hrs., total daily hours, and position change are assessed in relation to motion.

  • Industrial Rehabilitation.

  • Functional Capacity Evaluation.

  • Fitness for Duty.

  • Mobile Equipment Operators.

  • OSHA Hearing Conservation and Noise Exposure (e.g. noise monitoring, audiometric testing, hearing protection, retesting for suspect STS, record keeping and education)

  • All drug and alcohol testing protocols (e.g. hair, pre-employment & post accident)
